JOHN EGAN has claimed his fitness rather than his future is his main focus this summer.
Egan, 31, was Sheffield United’s captain on their return to the top flight and lined out in their first six matches of the season.

But he has not played since September when he suffered an Achilles injury which required surgery and ruled him out for the remainder of the campaign.
The Blades suffered relegation and the defender is out of contract. The club is in talks about a new deal and has interest from elsewhere.
But the Corkman is focusing on making sure he is good to go wherever he is plying his trade next season.
He said: “Where I stand I suppose is making sure I’m fully fit for pre-season. Those talks are going on in the background, they are above my head.
“For the last few months now, I’ve just been gearing myself towards getting fully fit for pre-season.
“I’m in a great place now and I’m doing a lot of work with Sheffield, the staff, and doing a lot of good training. That’s been at the forefront of my mind, getting back fully fit.
“Those talks will be going on in the background and when the time comes, when there is an offer or a decision to be made, everything gets weighed up.
“My main goal now is to keep going with my training and keep working really hard and when the time comes where a decision has to be made, a decision will be made.”
Asked if he would consider a move outside England rather than securing a return to the Premier League, he said: “It hasn’t really entered my mind anything really.
“Ideally I would like to have something sorted soon but as I have said before these talks are going on in the background.
“And, as a player, all I can do now is make sure I recover from this injury 100 percent and keep striving really hard to put myself in the best shape possible for pre-season.”
Egan moved to Bramall Lane from Brentford in 2018, helping the club win promotion in his first season and again in the 2022-23 campaign.
