STEPHEN BRADLEY bemoaned Shamrock Rovers’ failure to claim all three points against Bohemians.

Bohs took the lead through Filip Piszczek and had chances to extend their lead before Johnny Kenny levelled shortly before the break.

Bar an early penalty shout and two late corners, the Gypsies barely threatened after the break.

The Hoops looked far more dangerous with Bradley not too concerned that Bohs keeper Kacper Chorazka was forced into a string of saves.

Bradley said: “I thought the first-half, we had so many opportunities to play but we didn’t take it.

“The spaces were there but we just didn’t see them and it became a bit of a basketball game which they like.

“There was nothing in the first-half, no team had control of the game but the second-half we completely dominated.

“I don’t think they entered our box until the last few seconds with the corners. We completely dominated and should have won the game.

“People can say ‘work the keeper’, but there are blocks on the six-yard line, little ones that go across the six-yard box that you could just get a touch on.

“If the keeper didn’t have work to do, it doesn’t tell you the story of the domination we had and the chances we created.

“On another night, Neil Farrugia cuts in and that goes in, Johnny’s one goes in, the one that’s deflected off the line. I wouldn’t read too much into that, a lot of our stuff in the second-half was very good.

“We’re frustrated because we should win the game.

“In the second-half they had very little. I could be wrong but I can’t remember anything in our box or even on target.

“To come over here and reduce them to nothing and dominate the game, in the second half, was really pleasing.

“We completely took that away from them and controlled the game. I really liked the second half.”

Jack Byrne made his first appearance 2024 with Farrugia getting his first outing since the opening night of the season.

But the return of those players from injury was tempered by the loss of Dylan Watts in the first half with Bradley not surprised.

He said: “It looks like a hamstring. We have been worried about Dylan for a few weeks as he has played nearly every minute and we have been looking for opportunities to take him out.

“We took him out Monday early but he’s the one that we flagged about 10 days ago as a staff that we knew he was in the red zone, in real danger.

“But with the bodies the way they were, he’s been playing and unfortunately it’s gone but hopefully not too bad.”

INJURY BOOST

Markus Poom also returned after a much shorter lay-off and Bradley said: “It was good to get them on, especially Jack. He’s been out a long time and then nearly came back and had a little setback, so it’s great to have him on the pitch.

“He felt good and had no issues afterwards. It’s the same with Neil.  Neil has been really quick getting back and Markus felt good as well.

“We didn’t rush him for Monday, so it was good to get him back. We are getting there and next week we should have a few more back.”

On Byrne, he added: “We didn’t know what it was, that’s what the problem was. It came from his back down to his knee, calf.

“We had him everywhere – the main specialist in Europe, we had him in London, at different clubs just trying to get to the bottom of it.

“It looks like we’re there now and it’s just about getting him back up and ready to go. It’s a long season and it’s only early so we’ll take our time building him.

“Thankfully we have a lot of games which allows us to do that. Hopefully on Monday we can get more minutes into him and as soon as he’s ready, he plays.”
