IRELAND’S hopes of reaching the hockey quarter-finals were ended by a fourth straight defeat.
Argentina beat Mark Tumilty’s men 2-1 and, after losses to Belgium, Australia and India, Ireland will hope to restore some pride in their final pool game against New Zealand on Friday.

Lee Cole cancelled out Tomas Domene’s opener but Maico Casella Schuth’s goal before half-time proved decisive.
Tumilty said: “I thought it was a really good performance, we created enough chances in that game to get the three points we needed.
“Sometimes you need a bit of luck in sport and I don’t think we got much.”
