IRELAND suffered their third straight defeat in hockey as they went down 2-0 to India.
Harmanpreet Singh scored both goals in the first half and, despite the best efforts of Mark Tumilty’s side, they could not fight their way back into the game.

They wrap up their campaign against Argentina on Thursday and New Zealand the following day.
Captain Seán Murray said: “We’re frustrated of course not to get the result. In the second half we found our second wind and we were really pushing hard, created lots of nice chances but unfortunately didn’t take them.
“Before the tournament we probably wanted to target the last three games to get those wins to get to the quarter final, now we’ve got two more to go. We’ll keep our heads high and have the confidence to tune the finer details and try and get those two wins.”
