Team Ireland now face New Zealand in their final pool clash tomorrow evening

New Zealand are also two from two meaning they will fight it out for top spot in Pool A this afternoon to tee up a favourable quarter-final later in the evening.

Ward’s dad Andy is a Kiwi who won 28 caps for Ireland after joining Ballynahinch 30 years ago.

Whilst his younger sibling Bryn was part of the Ireland team beaten by New Zealand in the semi-finals of the Under-20 Rugby World Cup earlier this month.

His nearest and dearest were in the Stade de France with the players getting to see family in between matches.

And Ward said “They got beaten by New Zealand in their last game so hopefully I can right that for him. It was mentioned, the first thing he said to me.”
